1927
Kalymnos move from Greece to Darwin, Australia
Pedro Pikos comes from a Greek-Australian family with a construction history extending back almost a century.
Their grandfather, Petros Mihailou, migrated from the Greek island of Kalymnos to Darwin in 1927. He established a small construction company that contributed to several buildings of historical significance in early Darwin. Construction subsequently became a family tradition carried forward by later generations.
1940's
Meletios Pikos continues the tradition
The next generation was led by Meletios Pikos and his wife, Dimitra Pikos, who made their family home in Darwin.
Meletios continued the family’s involvement in construction, establishing his own develoment business along with other business ventures. Together, Meletios and Dimitra raised five children: George Meletios Pikos, Petros “Pedro” Pikos, Andonios “Tony” Pikos, Vakina Pikos and Michael Meletios Pikos.
1960s – 1970s
The Pikos kids grow up in Darwin
George, Pedro, Tony, Vakina and Michael were raised in Darwin’s close-knit Greek community, within a family firmly established in the construction industry. Pedro attended Darwin High School before continuing his education at Waverley College in Sydney.
1980 - 1985
Pedro enters the property industry
Pedro Pikos began his career in property, building on the family’s foundations in construction and business. This marked the beginning of his journey in the industry and the early foundations of what would evolve into Pikos Group.
1988
Establishment of Pikos
Pikos was established in 1988 as a privately owned Queensland business, with a focus on residential and commercial construction, property development, development management and property investment. This marked the beginning of the Pikos story and laid the foundation for the business to grow and evolve.
2003
Expansion into Queensland
In 2003, the brothers expanded into Queensland and established a Brisbane headquarters in Fortitude Valley. This marked the group’s transition from its Northern Territory construction origins into a substantial South East Queensland property-development business.
2008
Simon Cathcart joins Pikos
Executive Director Simon Cathcart joined Pikos as a significant partner, bringing extensive experience across engineering, corporate strategy, telecommunications and international business. His partnership marked an important chapter in the Group’s continued growth and evolution.
2020s
Shaping Brisbane's Luxury Riverfront Living
Pikos Group strengthened its vision for luxury riverfront living, acquiring the landmark Kangaroo Point clifftop site that would become Skye by Pikos.
At the same time, the Group continued its long-term land acquisition strategy along the Brisbane River, laying the foundations for what would later become Gaia.
Together, these two exceptional sites marked an exciting new chapter in Pikos' commitment to creating landmark residential developments in Brisbane.
2024
Pikos start construction on Gaia Kangaroo Point
Construction commenced on Gaia by Pikos at Kangaroo Point, marking a defining milestone for one of the Group’s most ambitious developments.
The commencement followed more than a decade of strategic site acquisition, bringing together eight individual properties to create a rare consolidated riverfront holding.
Set directly on the Brisbane River, Gaia will deliver two landmark residential towers surrounded by expansive private riverfront parkland and an exceptional collection of world-class amenities.
2026
Skye by Pikos Reaches Completion
In 2026, Pikos celebrated the completion of Skye by Pikos, a defining milestone for the Group and the realisation of its vision for an extraordinary Kangaroo Point riverfront site.
Rising above the Brisbane River, Skye brings together exceptional architecture, craftsmanship, premium materials and expansive residences, setting a new benchmark for luxury riverfront living in Brisbane.
2026 - 2031
A growing Brisbane pipeline
Pikos enters its next chapter with one of its most significant development pipelines to date. Across Brisbane, the Group’s growing portfolio includes more than 1,600 apartments planned by 2031, including approximately 1,000 new residences across its Newstead pipeline. With more than $2 billion in project value scheduled for delivery over the next five years, this next phase represents a significant period of growth for Pikos and its continued investment in the future of Brisbane.
